A rare cocoa from peasant farming
The small farmers in Peru grow local and ancient varieties of cocoa. The fair price they receive for their cros allows them to maintain ths tradiction.
The 1000 families of small cocoa producers, located in the north of Peru, cultivate their plots in agroforestry. They associate a great diversity of fruit and forest species with Criollo cocoa. In this way, they maintain the fertility of the soil without chemical inputs. The shade trees regulate the humidity of the soil and the proliferation of pests.
